If a user is violating policies on this Wiki, they may be in need of a temporary block or permanent ban. These are the rules and procedures to be followed by administrators and bureaucrats when dealing with a user potentially in need of a block/ban:

Blocking procedure

  1. If a user is found to be violating WordGirl Wiki policies, they should first be gently notified that they are doing so.
  2. If the user disregards the notification mentioned above, they must be given at least one official warning that they will be blocked/banned if they do not comply with policy.
  3. Upon further failure to heed warnings and follow policies, the user should be given, according to the severity of their misconduct, a block ranging in length between one week and one month, along with a notification that they have been given a warning block.
  4. After the block has expired, the user will be allowed to resume normal activity.
  5. If the user begins to act badly again, they should be administered a block of up to one year. If a user is being particularly destructive, this step may be omitted.
  6. See "Banning procedure" below.

Banning procedure

  1. If, after the above measures have been taken, the user continues to be a problem, an administrator or bureaucrat may permanently ban the user from editing on the Wiki.
  2. In general, if the person editing is an Unregistered Contributor editing from an IP address, they should probably not be permanently banned unless it can be determined that the same person is repeatedly editing from the same IP address.
